May 1, 2014
Cambridge Family and Children's Service is excited to be hosting new, FREE, social skills groups for kids ages 7 - 17 (who meet criteria for DDS eligibility)!
Groups started 2 weeks ago, and we have been working on things like: how to give the perfect high-five (NO stinging hands!), winning and losing (Angry Birds Style!) and ways to hang out and have fun with someone who might look, learn and communicate differently. We would love to add some new friends to the group!
Groups meet on Wednesdays at Cambridge Children's and Family Service, at 60 Gore Street in Cambridge.
  • Ages 7-9:     3:30 - 4:30pm
  • Ages 10-12: 4:45 - 5:45pm
  • Ages 13-17: 6:00 - 7:00pm
Space is limited and will fill up fast! Reserve your spot by contacting Michelle Vercellone, Director of Home-Based Services, at: mvercellone@helpfamilies.org, or by calling 617-876-4210, ext: 4259.
About Ashley Coates
Groups are facilitated by Ashley Coates of Coates Corner. Ashley has lots of experience teaching through play, and is an expert at Hungry, Hungry Hippos, UNO and is learning how to "let 'em rip" with Beyblades!
In this group, we think that learning how to be a good friend, play fair and show interest in others is best done by engaging in games that are just the right mix of competition and fun. We work hard to make sure that we are meeting the individual needs of each participant, and can share strategies that will translate to the classroom and the playground.
