From Maine Arts Camp
June 13, 2016
Maine Arts Camp is a coeducational overnight camp for 9-16 year old boys and girls. It is located on the campus of environmentally-friendly Unity College, near Waterville, Maine. The college's green campus, with gardens, hiking and biking trails, locally grown food, a fire pit for campfires, as well as access to Unity Pond for kayaking and canoeing, provides a perfect setting.
There are extensive arts facilities including studios for drawing and painting, printmaking, metals and sculpture; as well as a modern pottery studio with eight wheels and a kiln. For performing arts, the college owns the local Unity Centre for the Performing Arts, a full service performance and event center in the town of Unity.
They are in need of more campers--especially boys--for their second, 2-week session (July 24th - August 6th) and they're offering deep discounts to interested families.
If your children, or any other kids you know would benefit from a creative couple of weeks in Maine at a nurturing overnight camp on a lovely college campus, please tell them about Maine Arts Camp.
Because they're small and very accepting of all, they can accommodate certain special needs very well. These include dyslexia, ADHD, twice exceptional, mild autism spectrum (Asperger's) and similar issues. Maine Arts is not a therapeutic camp, but they do have a few instructors with special needs training.
Please check out the camp's website at www.maineartscamp.com, or contact Assistant Director Candy Cohn by calling 561-865-4330.
